The Northumberland Youth Advisory Council was established in 2005 to empower and connect young people as an advisory voice to government, while also engaging and retaining youth as a part of a sustainable youth strategy for our county. Since then, the Northumberland Youth Advisory Council has come a long way! We support the communities within our county in many various ways such as the Annual Youth Merit Scholarship, Annual Youth Day of Caring and other various events throughout our Youth Cares Campaign! All decisions made by the NYAC are made by council members between the ages of 14 to 24. The NYAC is the first youth driven organization in Northumberland County’s history!

How We Are Funded
We are an organization that is sponsored by the Northumberland Community Futures Development Organization with core funding provided by the County of Northumberland.  We are also funded and supported in part by the Northumberland United Way and local individuals, businesses and organizations such as Beth Hoselton, Crawford and Associates, Ready Print, Petro Canada, Gill’s Gas and Plaza’ Cameco, Lynn Hardy, RBC Dominion Securities and other generous donors. From time to time additional funds may be raised through fundraising events which are organized by the NYAC. All funds are given directly back to the communities in which we all live, so there are no hidden costs or administration fees!
